My Story:
How I realised the solution is often as simple as WATER.
Hi my name is Tina. Like most of us, I've had enough UTI's to never want another one!
Backpacking through Barcelona's summer PLUS a holiday romance ended up in me fainting in the youth hostel bathroom, and an ambulance arriving to take me to hospital - a bit scary in a foreign country.
But in my late 40s, when my body's own levels of protective oestrogen were lowered due to Tamoxifen medication & peri-menopause - that UTI's really started to affect my quality of life.
You know the drill - burning pain, brain fog & fever. Difficult to function. Risk of bladder and kidney infection.
I was enduring pain to avoid having to take anti-biotics ( I was reading a lot about the dangers to us all when bacteria become anti-biotic resitant) - but ending up having to take course after course.
And there was always the constant tingle of another UTI on the horizon.
Pills helped with prevention - but I didn't want to pop them daily for the rest of my life! $$$!
Then a trip to Bali changed everything. There the toilets had a hose called a washlet or bidet is used instead of toilet paper.
It felt a bit strange at first, but I quickly realise how much I preferred feeling shower fresh in the heat.
Best of all, after some days I realised the constant tingle of my body fighting another UTI was gone.
I read up extensively on the bidet and discovered they are the norm in Japan, Korea, Portugal, Italy, Thailand, Malaysia and many more countries - except (due to. a quirk of history) - the English speaking ones.
I read studies done in Care Homes where using this device stopped UTI's in women - and thereby also the common UTI related deaths.
So when I got back home I just used cups of water, and haven't had a UTI since. I've told every doctor I could, to tell their female patients to try cleaning with water first - then just use the loo paper to dry.
Then I discovered this portable electric rechargeable one - much faster & more practical than filling several cups of water every time.
I keep it next to my toilet and take it with me when I travel. I don't use it every time - on average once a day - when my girlie bits need it , it's right there.
I love it's invigoration fresh cool blast in summer. In winter I fill it with warm water and enjoy the soothing warm shower feeling.
I really hope it helps you in your life as it has helped me.
